India, Oct. 18 -- The United States Diversity Visa (DV) lottery has once again barred Indian nationals, at least until 2028. The program, often known as the "green card lottery," was designed to pick candidates from nations with exceptionally low rate of immigration during the previous five years in order to broaden the diversity of immigrants in the US.
The lottery is only open to citizens from countries that have sent less than 50,000 immigrants to the US in that time period. India, with its constantly high immigrant population, has exceeded the eligibility criteria, leaving it out of the competition.
