India, Sept. 17 -- Union health and family welfare ministry has proposed amendments to the Drugs Rules, 1945, to mandate medical stores to install CCTV cameras to monitor the unauthorised sale of drugs, which must only be sold with a prescription from a registered medical practitioner. This comes amid complaints about pharmacists selling prescription drugs over the counter.

In a statement, the ministry said it has proposed amendments to the Drugs Rules, 1945, through a Draft Gazette Notification on September 8 to strengthen regulatory oversight over Schedule H, H1 and X drugs.
