LUCKNOW, Nov. 4 -- A 13-year-old girl allegedly lived in fear for months after a 35-year-old man from her village repeatedly harassed her and pressured her to go with him, her father has alleged. The girl was found hanging at her home in Malihabad on Monday, following which police arrested the accused late that night. The family also alleged that a complaint regarding the same was give at the local outpost, however, it was ignored back then.

After probe, the Lucknow police found the allegation to be true. DCP (North) Amit Kumar Anand said, "Vivek Kumar, the in-charge of the Kasmandi police outpost was suspended on charges of negligence and failure to take action on the complaint filed by the victim."
