Forces destroy Maoist camp in Chhattisgarh
Raipur, Aug. 19 -- Security forces have destroyed a Maoist camp in a forested hilly area in Gariaband district of Chhattisgarh and recovered arms, ammunition, cash, and other materials from the spot in a joint operation, police said on Monday.
Four Maoists carrying a cumulative reward of Rs. 19 lakh surrendered before the police, with Inspector General of Police, Raipur range, Amresh Mishra calling it an "unprecedented success" for the police force.
The joint operation that started on Saturday night involved teams of the Gariaband and Dhamtari police forces, as well as Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and its Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) unit in the forests near Bade Gobra village under the Manepur police station limits...
