Five killed as Janmashtami chariot touches high-tension wires in Hyd
Hyderabad, Aug. 19 -- At least five people were electrocuted to death and four others sustained injuries after they came in contact with live wires during a procession organised as part of Janmashtami celebrations in Hyderabad on Monday, police said.
According to officers aware of the details, the incident took place around 1am at Gokulnagar in Ramanthapur area when locals were pulling a chariot with Lord Krishna's idol as part of the festivities. "In the process, the chariot touched high-tension power lines. As a result, nine people who were pulling the chariot received electric shocks and were flung away by the impact," an officer said on condition of anonymity.
