Raipur, June 16 -- A 60-year-old farmer died after allegedly being beaten with sticks and run over by a tractor during a dispute over agricultural land in Chhattisgarh's Surguja district, police said on Monday. According to police, the incident took place on Sunday in Pathrai village under Batoli police station limits when the victim and his family went to stop the rival group from ploughing the disputed 6.3-acre farmland. Police arrested all eight accused, including two women, in connection with the case. The deceased, Hosram Paikra of Silma village, was involved in a long-running dispute with his relative Bajrang Paikra of Pathrai village over ownership of the farmland.
