Chandigarh, Nov. 6 -- The Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered a Special Summary Revision (SSR) of electoral rolls in Chandigarh and five other states and Union Territories, with January 1, 2027, fixed as the qualifying date for enrolment of eligible voters. The final electoral rolls will be published on January 21, 2027.

This is different from the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). While the SIR involved fresh enumeration and extensive verification of existing electors, the SSR is an annual exercise to update the existing electoral rolls through additions, deletions and corrections.
