Srinagar, Sept. 16 -- Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday advised the leadership of Ladakh not to rely on the Centre's verbal assurances regarding their struggle for constitutional safeguards with regard to land and jobs.

His remarks come days after the latest round of talks in New Delhi this month between leaders of the Ladakh Apex Body (LAB) and Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) failed to yield a concrete outcome.

"Ladakh has its own problems. Our problems are different. But I can only give advice to the leaders of Ladakh, as a friend and an elder brother.
