New Delhi, July 4 -- The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) moved the Supreme Court on Friday, seeking to be impleaded as a party in the proceedings arising out of the Karur stampede case, contending that its intervention was necessary to ensure the fairness and independence of the court-monitored CBI probe. The stampede occurred on September 27 last year, at a rally by Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) at Karur, where the current Tamil Nadu chief minister C Joseph Vijay was present. 41 people died and over 100 were injured.
