India, Oct. 10 -- Dhruv Jurel may have hit his maiden Test match century in the series-opener against the West Indies in Ahmedabad but the talented right-handed batter is still some distance away from Sanju Samson in the popularity chart. Jurel's selection over Samson, a much-experienced and tested white-ball player, for the Australia ODIs, irked former India batter Mohammad Kaif.
KL Rahul has been India's designated keeper-batter in ODIs for quite some time now and he will remain so in Australia but with Rishabh Pant unavailable due to the foot injury he suffered in England, the debate was between Jurel and Samson for the second keeper's slot and the selectors went with the former instead of giving Samson another opportunity.
