New Delhi, Aug. 22 -- A 31-year-old software engineer allegedly died after being assaulted by his wife's family members following a matrimonial dispute at his residence in outer Delhi's Nihal Vihar on Friday, police said. Police said four people have been detained for questioning but not yet arrested.

A case under sections 103(1) (murder) and 3(5) (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered.

Police identified the deceased as Vinay Gupta, a resident of Laxmi Park, who married about three and a half years ago. Police did not identify the wife. They have four-and-a-half-month-old twin children, a boy and a girl, police said.
