New Delhi, Oct. 12 -- Delhi police have registered a first information report (FIR) against Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) professor and Congress Lok Sabha MP Angomcha Bimol Akoijam at Vasant Kunj North police station following a complaint by the university's chief security officer on October 11.

A senior police officer said the FIR was registered under sections 75, 75(1)(i), 75(1)(iv) and 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) on charges of sexual harassment and gesture intended to insult a woman's modesty. The investigation is underway, the officer said.
