India, Oct. 1 -- Portraying a celebrity in misleading, inappropriate, or derogatory contexts using their persona can harm their reputation and diminish the value of their goodwill, the Delhi high court has said, while safeguarding Telugu actor Akkineni Nagarjuna's personality and publicity rights, restraining entities from commercially exploiting his name, image and voice without consent.
A bench of justice Tejas Karia protected Nagarjuna's rights in his September 25 order, released on Tuesday, while dealing with the actor's petition seeking protection of his name, image, voice and other distinctive personality attributes.
