New Delhi, June 30 -- The Delhi Cabinet on Monday approved a new electric vehicle policy that mandates phased "electric-only" registrations for light trucks, three-wheelers and two-wheelers, gives incentives for their purchase, and expands charging infrastructure, for accelerating a transition away from fossil fuels that contribute a significant share to the city's hazardous pollution levels. The Delhi EV Policy 2026, approved by the cabinet on Monday, also caps an existing road tax and registration fee waiver for electric cars to those priced below Rs.30 lakh.
