Dehradun, Sept. 28 -- Authorities in Uttarakhand began the process of issuing death certificates for those still missing in the devastating flash floods which swept Uttarkashi's Dharali on August 5, in order to distribute the compensation amount to their families, officials said on Saturday.
Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had on August 9 announced a Rs.5 lakh ex gratia for the next of kin of each deceased. State health secretary R Rajesh Kumar had on Thursday invoked the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969, which allows a government officer to issue death certificates for missing people. P2
