Lucknow, March 23 -- Many fish washed up dead in the Gomti near Heerapuram, in the Itaunja area, sparking concern among residents and civic authorities launching an investigation into possible pollution.
The incident began on Sunday, when locals first noticed fish dying in the river. By Monday afternoon, thousands of dead fish had surfaced and drifted to the banks, creating a strong foul odour and raising fears of water contamination.
Videos of the incident, widely circulated on social media, drew the attention of officials.
