Bhubaneswar, Oct. 5 -- Six people, including Cuttack deputy commissioner of police (DCP), were injured after a clash broke out between two communities over songs being played during a Durga idol immersion ceremony in Odisha's Cuttack on Friday late night, police said.
According to Bhubaneswar-Cuttack police commissioner S Dev Dutt Singh, the immersion procession of the Jhanjirimangala Bhagabat Puja Committee was passing through the Haathi Pokhari stretch around 2 am when a dispute over the songs triggered heated arguments, which escalated into stone-pelting and hurling of glass bottles between the youngsters of the two communities.
