NEW DELHI, Aug. 5 -- A Delhi court has rejected the bail plea of a man accused in an inter-state child trafficking racket, observing that the need to protect vulnerable children outweighs the individual liberty of the accused. Additional sessions judge Hargurvarinder Singh Jaggi said child trafficking was a "heinous scourge" and noted that the trafficked infant girl, allegedly sold through multiple intermediaries after being taken from her mother, remains untraced. The court said the accused prima facie acted in concert with his wife to trade the newborn for profit.
