BELAGAVI, May 8 -- A contractual Group-D employee at the district hospital in Bagalkot has been arrested for allegedly raping a woman who was staying at the facility to care for her brother, police said on Thursday. Hospital authorities dismissed the accused from service shortly after the incident came to light.

Police said the 34-year-old woman had been staying at the hospital for nearly a month while attending to her brother, who was undergoing treatment there. During this period, she came into contact with the accused, identified as Farid Saab Dangi, an outsourced Group-D worker employed at the hospital.
