Congress questions top court's order, BJP calls it 'defeat of Oppn'
New Delhi, May 28 -- The Supreme Court's ruling on the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls triggered sharp political reactions on Wednesday, with the Congress attacking the verdict that upheld the SIR's constitutional validity, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) welcomed the verdict terming it as defeat of the Opposition.
In its verdict on Wednesday, the top court observed that the SIR exercise is constitutional, legally tenable and cannot be struck down merely because it differs from the ordinary process of voter-roll revision.
