India, Aug. 9 -- The Directorate of Higher Education (DHE) has directed universities and colleges across Maharashtra to complete approvals for teachers appointed on a clock-hour basis (CHB) by August 14, warning of action over delays.

In a circular issued on August 7, Higher Education director Shailendra Deolankar said several universities had failed to meet the July 31 deadline despite repeated directions, delaying teacher appointments and payments and potentially affecting students' academic work.

Colleges have been directed to immediately submit approval proposals for CHB teachers appointed against no-objection certificates (NOCs) issued by divisional joint directors of higher education. Pending NOC cases must also be cleared without...
