India, Sept. 11 -- Conservative activist and popular influencer Charlie Kirk, 31, was fatally shot on Wednesday, September 10, during an appearance at a campus event in Utah. The shooting happened around 12:20 pm local time during a student Q&A at UVU in Orem, per a statement from Utah Valley University (UVU).
"There was a single shot fired from the top of a nearby building about 200 yards away," the statement said.
Kirk grew up in the Chicago suburb of Arlington Heights. He was the CEO of Turning Point USA, and became popular on YouTube and X for his unapologetic conservative opinions.
Kirk's mother is a mental health counselor. His father ran his own architecture firm, Baptist News reported, citing the 2022 book Raising Them Right.
