Chandigarh, April 9 -- The Punjab and Haryana high court (HC) has quashed the Haryana government's 2025 notification, whereby Scheduled Caste (SC) category seats in the Panchkula municipal corporation (MC) House were reduced from four seats to three.

The petition by one Usha Rani and others had challenged the government notification of September 4, 2025, stating that in the last election held for the '20' wards of the elected body, the reservation was carved out based on the Census of 2011, and out of the total '20' seats, 'four' seats were reserved for candidates belonging to the SC community.
