Chandigarh, Aug. 9 -- An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) has been suspended for allegedly misusing the credit and debit cards of two persons arrested in connection with an immigration fraud case. The cop has also been accused of making one of the suspects sign a blank cheque.

Officials, wishing not to be named, said ASI Ashish Pratap Singh, posted at the Sector 17 police station, had been tasked with investigating an immigration fraud case registered against Sky High Immigration in Sector 17. The proprietors, Shantanu and Baljinder, were booked and later arrested from Dera Bassi. After Shantanu got bail from a local court, he came up with the allegations against the ASI.
