New Delhi, June 16 -- The Centre on Monday signed the first memorandum of understanding (MoU) under its recently approved Rs.9,585-crore scheme to replace old trucks and buses in the Delhi-NCR region, with Ashok Leyland and its electric mobility arm Switch Mobility. Under the MoU, they will offer an 8% discount on the ex-showroom price of eligible trucks and buses purchased under the scheme. For electric vehicles, the discount will be capped at the level applicable to an internal combustion engine vehicle of the corresponding gross vehicle weight category. The scheme is aimed at reducing vehicular pollution and accelerating fleet modernisation in NCR. htc
