Building's plan approved under '16 scheme for easy clearances
New Delhi, July 9 -- Officials of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) washed their hands off the building plan approval for the structure that collapsed in Rohini Sector 16, citing that the approval for it was granted under the SARAL scheme. It said that the collapse occurred in properties bearing plot numbers G-4/152 and G-4/153, each having an area of 26 square metres, with approvals granted on April 10, 2025, and March 21, 2025.
Introduced in 2016, the SARAL scheme aimed to simplify building approvals for small residential plots, allowing empanelled architects to submit plans online.
