India, Jan. 4 -- On Day 1 of the fifth and final Test of the Ashes, the Sydney Cricket Ground rose as one to commemorate heroes from one of the city's darkest chapters. Only three weeks on from the deadly Bondi Beach terror attack which claimed the lives of 15, first responders and members of the community who played an important role in curbing the damage were honoured in a special ceremony before the start of day's play.
One of the key events of the summer in the city, the Sydney Test presented an opportunity for the city to recognise and memorialise not only those who lost their lives in the terror attack on December 14, but also to tip their hats to a long list of names which included the police force, first aid medics, surf lifesave...
