BJP summons K'taka leaders over cross voting in MLC polls
NEW DELHI, June 20 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) high command has summoned its Karnataka unit chief, BY Vijayendra Yediyurappa, along with the Leader of the Opposition in the assembly, R Ashoka, to seek an explanation for the cross-voting in the State Legislative Council polls held on Thursday, according to people aware of the matter.
The cross-voting, which led to the Congress gaining a majority in the Legislative Council, has set off concerns within the BJP that the opposition under the new chief minister, DK Shivakumar, is consolidating its position in the state.
