Bhubaneswar, April 28 -- The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Monday urged the Odisha assembly speaker to disqualify eight suspended party legislators, alleging that the legislators voluntarily gave up their membership by defying its directives and voting against the party line during the recent Rajya Sabha elections. The development comes months after the Upper House polls in which BJD-supported candidate lost to BJP-supported candidate and former Union minister Dilip Ray.
