India, Sept. 11 -- Sattu and makhana, two of Bihar's most recognisable snacks, will be part of a welcome kit for delegates and journalists at the three-day Brics Summit of the world's 11 major emerging economies in New Delhi, as part of an effort to highlight India's diverse food traditions.

Brics originally comprised Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. It expanded in 2024 to include Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the UAE. Saudi Arabia and Indonesia joined in 2025. Belarus, Bolivia, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, Uganda, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam became partner countries last year. The grouping represents around 49.5% of the global population, 40% of global GDP, and around 26% of global trade.
