Chandigarh, Aug. 15 -- Inspector Baljit Singh, posted as in-charge of the crime investigation agency (CIA), Barnala, has been awarded the President's Medal for Distinguished Service on the eve of the 80th Independence Day.

Similarly, according to the list released by the Union ministry of home affairs, 11 other Punjab Police officials, including two IPS and six PPS officers, have been awarded Medals for Meritorious Service.
