Prayagraj, Aug. 15 -- The district administration has launched the process to attach properties valued at approximately Rs.156 crore linked to the late mafia don Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed. Revenue authorities are currently verifying the identified land parcels to pave the way for legal attachment proceedings.

The move follows a directive from the special director general of police (law and order) to conduct a detailed assessment of properties connected to the brothers and their network. Preliminary findings suggest that proceeds from the sale of these properties were allegedly being routed to Atiq's wife, Shaista Parveen, his son Ahjam and Ashraf's wife, Zainab.
