Amarnath Yatra suspended due to bad weather, track repairs
Srinagar, Aug. 9 -- The Amarnath Yatra has been suspended from both the base camps from August 9 owing to prediction of bad weather and need of repair of tracks, officials said on Saturday.
The Yatra was also suspended from Jammu on Saturday amid inclement weather, forecast of heavy rain till August 11 and a decline in pilgrim arrivals, officials said. No fresh batch of pilgrims was allowed to leave the Bhagwati Nagar base camp for Kashmir this morning, they said.
However, Chari Mubarak shall proceed via the traditional Pahalgam route and shall mark the culmination of the Yatra on August 28", the divisional commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg said.
So far, over 4.8 lakh pilgrims have performed the pilgrimage after the 57-day yatra starte...
