LUCKNOW, April 3 -- The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court has stayed the judgment of a single-judge bench that had given the benefit of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) to several temporary and work-charged employees who were regularised after the introduction of the New Pension Scheme (NPS) on April 1, 2005, warranting a huge financial burden on the state exchequer.

A division bench of Justice Rajan Roy and Justice Abdhesh Kumar Chaudhary passed the interim order on April 2, 2026, while hearing around 40 special appeals filed by the public works department challenging the November 4, 2025 verdict of the single-judge bench.
