AIADMK Veteran resigns from party citing internal rift
CHENNAI, May 19 -- Veteran All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) leader S Semmalai on Monday tendering his resignation from its primary membership, citing disappointment amid the ongoing tussle within the party following the creation of two factions.
Semmalai, a former minister and the party's propaganda secretary, attributed the reason behind his decision to a series of events in the party after the elections.
"The events that have unfolded in the AIADMK since the elections have caused great anguish, a sentiment shared by lakhs of cadres who have dedicated themselves to this movement," he said in his resignation letter, adding, "None of the incidents that have happened or are happening, is satisfying."
