India, Sept. 24 -- With only 4,29,000 applications collectively received for new voter enrolment and from the 20.7 million electors who were excluded from the draft electoral rolls in the first phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), the Election Commission (EC) is expected to extend the September 30 deadline for voter enrolment.

Of the 20.7 million electors who were removed from the draft electoral rolls, 7.68 million were recorded as permanently shifted, 7.55 million were absent from their registered addresses, 3.48 million were reported dead, 1.76 million were identified as duplicated entries and 2,23,000 reportedly refused to participate in the enumeration process.
