India, Oct. 8 -- Tamil actor Vijay's political party, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has moved the Supreme Court challenging a Madras high court order constituting a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the Karur stampede that claimed at least 41 lives during one of its rallies last month.
The petition, filed through TVK's secretary Aadhav Arjuna, was mentioned before Chief Justice of India Bhushan R Gavai, who agreed to list the matter for hearing on Friday (October 10) -- the same day the Supreme Court is scheduled to hear a similar plea filed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Uma Anandan seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the incident.
