India, Aug. 23 -- As many as 6.1 million electors in the state who could not be mapped during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) are likely to face deletion from the electoral rolls. This is in addition to the 20.70 million untraceable names (deceased shifted, absent, or registered at more than one place) already expected to be excluded from the draft rolls, which will be published on August 31.

The 6.1 million people have not been able to provide records from the 2004 SIR, which is the benchmark for establishing nationality. These voters will have to substantiate their claim of nationality by producing documents pertaining to themselves or their parents from 2004 or before during the next stage of the exercise.
