30 houses set on fire, 1 injured in manipur violence
IMPHAL, Sept. 2 -- At least 30 houses were set ablaze by armed miscreants on Tuesday and one villager reportedly sustained bullet injury in Manipur's Kangpokpi district, police said.
According to police, the incident happened around 4 am in three Liangmai Naga villages - Tapon Khullen, Tapon Khunou and Makui Pipuram - along the Imphal-Tamenglong road.
A senior police officer told HT, "Additional security forces including Central Reserve Police Force along with its CoBRA unit assisted by Manipur police has reach the spot and has launched a search operation in and around the area." The same officer said the attack was followed by gunfire which lasted till around 12.30 pm.
