Pune, Sept. 13 -- Two people were killed and 12 others injured in a multi-vehicle accident on the Pune-Bengaluru highway near Jambhulwadi in Maharashtra's Pune district early Sunday morning, police said.

The deceased were identified as Hridaynath Mohan Gaikwad (47), a resident of Jogeshwari East in Mumbai, and Anandibai Ramchandra Wadkar (50), a resident of Sector 10 in Nerul. Both died while undergoing treatment.

Senior police inspector at the Ambegaon police station Sharad Zine said the accident took place at 12.10am in front of Laxmi Lodge near Dari Pool. An Ashok Leyland truck travelling from Satara towards Pune allegedly rammed into the rear of an Eicher truck.
