150-acre reclaimed fly ash site in Aravallis to get Miyawaki forest, HPGCL tells NGT
Gurugram, July 9 -- The Haryana Power Generation Corporation Limited (HPGCL) has proposed developing a dense Miyawaki forest on a 150-acre reclaimed fly ash disposal site in the Aravalli Range in Faridabad, as part of an environmental restoration plan submitted to the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Thursday.
The site was previously used for the disposal of 40 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of fly ash from the Faridabad Thermal Power Station (FTPS).
A committee comprising technical experts from the Panipat Thermal Power Station and the divisional forest office inspected the site and recommended phased plantations, along with exploring the feasibility of projects to support the area's infrastructure needs.
