India, April 19 -- The fate of Strait of Hormuz finds itself surrounded by uncertainty yet again, as Iran reimposed restrictions on the key trade waterway and the United States' naval blockade remains in place. As the world remains in grip of a shipping and supply crisis due to that, an Indian port has emerged as a key prospect to solve a fraction of these issues - Kerala's Vizhinjam Port.

Vizhinjam Port is India's first deep-water container transhipment port in Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram district, which was conceptualised in in 1991 and is now serving as a major transhipment hub for the world, with reportedly a hundred vessels lined up there.
