India, Aug. 14 -- Tanzid Hasan credited a deliberately uncomplicated approach for the century that carried him into Bangladesh's record books and placed Australia under enormous pressure in the opening Test in Darwin. Playing only his second Test, the 25-year-old opener made 101 from 197 deliveries as Bangladesh reached 351 for six at stumps on Day 2. The visitors established a first-innings lead of 153 after dismissing Australia for 198, their lowest Test total against Bangladesh.

Tanzid became the first Bangladesh batter to score a Test century in Australia, breaking a national record that had remained untouched for 23 years. Hannan Sarkar's 76 at Cairns in 2003 had previously been the country's highest Test score on Australian soil. T...
