India, April 8 -- The district logged the highest pollution levels in the country in March, with an average PM2.5 concentration of 116 µg/m³, according to an analysis of Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring System (CAAQMS) data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) compiled by the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA).

The figure is nearly twice the daily National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) limit of 60 µg/m³ and over seven times higher than the World Health Organization (WHO) guideline of 15 µg/m³, the analysis showed.
