Goa, July 7 -- Microsoft has announced another major round of layoffs, confirming plans to cut approximately 4,800 jobs, or about 2.1 per cent of its global workforce, as the company accelerates investments in artificial intelligence while reorganising its gaming business. The latest workforce reduction comes amid a broader effort to streamline operations and redirect resources toward long-term growth areas.

A significant portion of the layoffs is linked to Microsoft's Xbox division, which has undergone extensive changes following years of heavy investment.
