Vijay Pays Tribute to Former LTTE Chief Prabhakaran on Death Anniversary
Goa, May 18 -- Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and TVK chief C Joseph Vijay on Sunday paid tribute to Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) founder V Prabhakaran on his death anniversary, once again bringing focus to the long-standing Sri Lankan Tamil issue. Referring to Mullivaikkal in Sri Lanka, where Prabhakaran was killed during the final phase of the Sri Lankan Civil War in 2009, Vijay posted on X that the memories of Mullivaikkal would always remain in their hearts and pledged solidarity with Tamils living "across the sea."
The LTTE remains a banned organisation in India for its involvement in the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in 1991, with Prabhakaran named as the main accused in the case.
