Goa, Aug. 6 -- Goa Forward Party president Vijai Sardesai has opposed the proposed Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, alleging that it would hand the Centre excessive powers over the assets of charitable and religious institutions. He said the proposed amendments could adversely affect schools, colleges, hospitals and social welfare organisations that play a vital role in Goa.

Sardesai urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to consider the concerns raised by affected institutions and other stakeholders before proceeding with the legislation.
