Goa, July 31 -- Ahead of the commencement of the fishing season on August 1, Velim MLA Cruz Silva inspected the Cutbona Fishing Jetty and called for urgent measures to address safety and infrastructure concerns before fishing operations resume.

During the inspection, Silva highlighted the unsafe condition of the river mouth, inadequate sanitation facilities and the shortage of registered labourers at the jetty. He urged the Fisheries Department to take immediate steps to eliminate navigation hazards and ensure the safety of fishermen venturing out to sea.
