Goa, Oct. 23 -- A Vasco resident has accused a woman of allegedly cheating him out of Rs 1.33 crore in a sophisticated investment scam. Amrit Govind Sakhalkar claims that Bhushra Khanam Zara Khanam convinced him to invest in various agricultural and hotel projects between March and October 2025, promising unusually high returns on his investments. Despite transferring the money through multiple cheques and bank transactions, Sakhalkar says he did not receive any formal documents, agreements, or proof of the investments. According to the complaint, Khanam reportedly used the funds for her personal purposes and, when Sakhalkar sought clarification, allegedly threatened him with false rape allegations, creating immense mental stress.
