Varca, June 30 -- Residents of Pedda Dumottem in Varca, along with social activist Shohail Furtado, have opposed the proposed construction of a 10-metre-wide road in the area, urging the Village Panchayat to retain the existing 3-metre road.

The residents alleged that widening the road to 10 metres would pave the way for large-scale construction activities and resort development, which they fear could alter the character of the locality and adversely impact the surrounding environment.
